My Story

My name is Megan Gasvoda, and I’m a writer, editor, and content strategist based in New York City. I created Balanced Copy with a simple goal in mind: to help health and wellness brands connect with the people who need their services. 

This isn’t just a professional goal of mine- it’s also a personal one. In 2015, I experienced a major health scare that turned my world upside down. One day, I was a carefree copywriter in New York City, spending my free time exploring Manhattan with my friends. Then suddenly, all of my non-working hours became dedicated to reading medical texts, obsessing over healthcare websites, and digging through the internet to find specialists that I trusted. And while I did eventually find some great information, I was frustrated by the process. How could something so important be so difficult for me to find?

A few weeks later, I received some good biopsy results. Everything was okay. I called my family, cried, and exhaled for what felt like the first time in a month. However, I couldn’t shake the feeling of needing to connect with health and wellness providers and not being able to find the best ones. I also began to think of the problem from the providers’ point of view. I knew there were great wellness experts out there, dedicating their lives to improving the health of others. How could I help them reach as many people as possible? 

I started Balanced Copy to solve these problems. By combining my passion for health communication with a decade of marketing and media experience, I help health and wellness companies find their voices, build their businesses, and reach their desired audiences. 

My Experience

I started my career in 2012, when I earned my BA in digital media and journalism from Alma College. After graduating, I began working for MSNBC, where I produced original reporting for msnbc.com. Eventually, I transitioned to writing branded content, first for news companies such as FOX and Buzzfeed, and then for digital marketing agencies. Most recently, I served as the Head of Content for K Business Solutions, where I wrote and consulted for over 50 different medical providers, dental practices, telehealth companies, holistic practitioners, and more. 

Over the years, I’ve seen countless changes in both the digital media industry and the healthcare industry. Through it all, my promise to my clients has always remained the same: To combine creative writing with the latest SEO strategies to create copy that not only boosts revenue, but also provides real value to readers along the way.
